So a GPX file I surmise would be fine on a device that has the routing capability on its own, like the Edge 520 plus, except that the device will try to use its own ... ,GPX format. I followed the advice on the site and placed the .GPX file on the Garmin-NewFiles folder and the course was transferred flawlessly to the 520.
