cmake install prefix
As of CMake 3.15 you can run the --install version of CMake after building: $ cmake --install /path/to/build --prefix /path/to/install [--config ...,which will install the concerned software using the installation prefix, e.g. /usr/local prepended with the DESTDIR value which finally gives /home/john/usr/local .
