Here are the most noteworthy features we'd like to call out in RC2 and get your feedback on:

* Smart Playlists: Create playlists that automatically update based on criteria you set.
* Album Art: Read, write and display album artwork. Theres a new Album Art Display Pane in the bottom of the Service Pane that shows the artwork associated with currently playing track. In the Metadata Editor, you can add, remove, cut, copy and paste artwork to a track - changes will be saved to the file(s) you edit.

What's new in this version:

* We have implemented jemalloc as our memory allocator for XULRunner on windows and linux. On these platforms we've been noticing Songbird's memory footprint has reduced between 15-20%.
* There is a new metadata editor! To check it out select a track and choose cmd/ctrl+e.
* We now write metadata back to the file.
* For Windows, the latest MTP add-on has been revved and we're supporting more devices.
* For all OS platforms, the iPod add-on has been completely rewritten to support our new device API
* Major performance improvements in the library when scrolling, filtering and importing (we now support much larger libraries too.)
* For Mac, the latest Quicktime add-ons for ppc and intel greatly improve playback performance for local MP3 and M4A files (no more latency issues before playback begins.)
* We have added a survey to Help Make Songbird Better in this release. We will use your feedback to improve future versions of the Bird!

* Display panes that make it friendly for multiple add-ons to be installed in Songbird at once by allowing the user to define which add-on gets displayed by context. Read the details on these integration points in our Developer Center.
* The latest generation iPods (the iPod touch/iPhone an exception) are now supported and we have improved the user experience for the iPod including a new iPod Summary Page (requires latest iPod add-on)
* Library support to return to the web location where a media item originated.
* A more comprehensive XUL Periodic Table in the Developer Support Tools Add-On.
* The Web Media History list now defaults with a column indicating the "Source" of the media. You can click on this entry to take you to that source web site.
* Bug free preferences/options.
* List views now retain users sorting preferences and column reordering.
