Yes, in Krita 2.3 it's possible to rotate the canvas. To rotate you can either go to the pan tool and press shift to rotate with the mouse. ,You can also hold SPACE+CTRL+SHIFT (or something like that) and touch the pen to the tablet and drag around; that's how I do it (with an express key).
